Voltage supply
The ME-SFI control unit is supplied with voltage at circuits 87 and 30 as follows (fused/unfused):
Model 129, 140 by the base module
Model 170, Model 210 up to 2/97 by the relay module
Model 202, 208,
Model 210 as of 3/97 by the fuse and relay module
MODEL 163 by the fuse and relay moduleF1
Model 215, 220 by the right fuse and relay module (K40/7)
Model 203, 209, 211 from SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1)
Model 230 Right fuse and relay module (K40/4)
  Groundconnections of output stages
Several ground connections of the ignition output stages and the ground of the electronics are attached close to the ME control unit (major assemblies compartment partition, wheelhouse or body).

The ME control unit features a short-circuit protection as well as a reversed polarity protection in the operating voltage range.

In certain cases voltage is supplied through several pins connected in parallel by means of bridges to relief the electrical connectors.

Function on vehicles with electronic ignition switch control unit
If the signal "Circuit 15 fused On" transmitted by the EIS control unit (N73)
is read in by the ME control unit (N3/10), the ground for the engine main relay is switched through by actuating a transistor. Once the engine main relay has closed the power contact, voltage flows through it from
circuit 30 downstream of the corresponding fuses as circuit 87 M to the ME control unit. Here the engine control is switched on through circuit 87 M. On model 203, 209, 211, 230 the output stage takes over the further actuation of the engine main relay.

If the ME control unit receives the signal "circuit 15 fused off" from the EIS control unit, the delayed-off running of the processor is started. Once the delayed-off running is ended, the engine main relay is switched off and the ME control unit is thus isolated from the electrical system.
