CAN participant Information
ESP, SPS and BAS control unit (N47N47-5) The Distronic uses the engine torque and braking torque interface in the traction systems control unit. Thus the traction systems control unit has access to the total data flow. Required braking interventions are undertaken by a vehicle without Sensotronic Brake Control directly by the traction systems control unit.
DTR control unit (A89A89) CAN messages from ESP, SPS and BAS control unit (N47-5):
Left front, right front, left rear and right rear wheel speeds
Steering angle (from 0 to 720°)
Steering angle sign (right/left).

CAN messages to the ESP control unit (N47-5):
Distronic error
Target evaluation (distance to it, relative speed, angle, radar lobe orientation and strength of the reflected radar beams).

Data output takes place over two different interfaces:
a) for models 209, 215, 220
b) for models 211, 219, 230.
Any possibility of confusing the two is excluded through having different connectors on the DTR control unit (A89).
SBC control unit (A7/3n1) CAN messages from ESP, SPS and BAS control unit (N47-5):
Braking torque (reduction or increase).

CAN messages arriving at the ESP, SPS and BAS control unit (N47-5):
Driver braking
Left front, right front, left rear and right rear wheel speeds.
Central gateway control unit (N93N93) CAN messages from the lower control panel control unit (N72) over CAN-B:
DTR switch OFF or ON (proximity warning function)
Specification from the DTR distance potentiometer.

CAN messages arriving at the ESP, SPS and BAS control unit (N47-5) over CAN-C:
DTR switch OFF or ON (proximity warning function)
Specification from the DTR distance potentiometer.
Steering column module (N80N80) CAN messages arriving at the ESP, SPS and BAS control unit (N47-5):
Pushbutton switch for the cruise control system : "OF"
Pushbutton switch for the cruise control system : "SET MEMORY"
Pushbutton switch for the cruise control system : "SET ACCELERATION"
Pushbutton switch for the cruise control system : "SET DELAY"
Operation of variable speed limiter, except
Cruise control pushbutton switch implausible
Steering angle (from 0 to 720°)
Steering angle sign (right/left)
Steering angle sensor defective.
Instrument cluster (A1A1) CAN messages arriving at the ESP, SPS and BAS control unit (N47-5):
mph instead of km/hour (variable speed limitation)
Winter tire maximum speed.

CAN messages from ESP, SPS and BAS control unit (N47-5):
Distronic distance warning lamp
Distronic warning tone
Recognition of a stationary object (e.g. stationary vehicle)
Switch display to Distronic display
Distronic switched on (no vehicle ahead)
Speedometers
Switch Distronic segment display on
Vehicle detected ahead
