CAN signals The ESP control unit is connected to the chassis CAN and the vehicle dynamics CAN. If the ESP control unit fails, only basic braking without ABS is available.

Since the ESP control unit is only awoken via the chassis CAN, the system will no longer function if the CAN fails completely. Only the stop light signal is displayed.
