GF91.60-P-4046SXU WSS (Weight Sensing System) control unit, component description 1.6.05

MODELS  221.0 /1

N2/13 WSS (Weight Sensing System) control unit

Location
The WSS control unit is located at the seat frame of the front passenger seat.

    P91.60-3011-06

Task
The WSS control unit determines the resting weight (e.g., of a person or a mounted child seat) on the front passenger seat with the aid of the WSS sensors (B48/11, B48/12, B48/13, B48/14), which are attached to the seat frame. The measured values are used to establish the weight classification of the resting weight, and it is provided to the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) for an accurate control of the airbag stages. The belt tension sensor (B48/3) is used to measure the force that is introduced via the belt in order to carry out possible corrections during the weight classification.
  Scope of task
Evaluating and providing voltage supply to the WSS sensors.
Evaluating and providing voltage supply to the belt tension sensor.
Calculating the weight classification of the resting weight of a person or a mounted child seat on the front passenger seat.
Providing the weight classification over the interior CAN
Self-test of the WSS control unit and the WSS sensors and the belt tension sensor. If a malfunction occurs, it is entered in the fault memory.
